The cost is $1,350 per person. This price includes airfare (up to $700), lodging, transportation in Honduras, meals, and projects. The is cost broken into 3 payments. A $250 non-refundable deposit is due with your application and secures your spot on the team. The second payment will be $450 due approximately 3 months prior to the trip. The final payment will be $650 due 30 days prior to your trip.NOTE: If airfare exceeds $700 per ticket, the overall cost of the trip may be higher. We treat this case-by-case.
Teams fly into Toncontín International Airport in Tegucigalpa (TGU) which is a 1.5-hour drive from La Paz where you will be serving. Teams will be picked up at TGU by HCP staff.
Honduras requires that your passport be valid for 6 months after your scheduled date of return to the United States. You will not be allowed to travel if your passport is not valid for this length of time. Please make sure your passport is valid or apply for one ASAP. New passports and passport renewals can take 6-8 weeks to process.
Lodging + Meals
The HCP Mission House is located in the town of La Paz, Honduras about 1 mile from the Center Square. It is located on 5 acres and surrounded by a security wall. The house is 4,000 square feet and has 4 comfortable bedrooms with bunk beds, and 3 full bathrooms with hot showers and sleeps 12-14 people comfortably. HCP will provide all meals while in Honduras. Travelers are responsible for their own meals at the airports.
Honduras does NOT require proof of vaccinations to enter the country. It is suggested that you consult with your doctor and the Center For Disease Control to determine recommended vaccinations. More information can be found at: https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/traveler/none/honduras
Emergency Medical Care
There is a 24-hour medical clinic nearby the mission house that provides quality care for emergencies. They do not accept insurances but are reasonably priced by US standards. They accept credit cards.
Catastrophic trip insurance is purchased for each traveler. This covers the expense of your emergency medical evacuation from Honduras in the unlikely event you were to need it. This does not include reimbursement if you find it necessary to cancel your trip for personal reasons. The cost is included in your trip cost.
